It is set-up mainly for the Medevac Helicopter that arrives on occasion at CYCW. They will land at the indicated circle, then taxi to the gate location where the ambulance(s) meet the helicopter on the apron. The ambulances have been instructed to wait until the helicopter has parked and shutdown, then they can proceed airside.

If in the event you will be arriving at CYCW for Medevac with fixed-wing aircraft. Please follow the same map for arrival process outlined for the helicopter operations.

The terminal is normally open from 3ish to about half passed midnight and the pilots can access it through gate 19b to outside the airport then using the normal entrance.  To get back to the plane, the pilot gate can be opened with the Code 425 - this isn't marked on the fence or the gate.

There is always security here who can be contacted at 250-755-7791 if the terminal isn't open and they are happy to let the crew in to use the washrooms or get out of the weather.  The phone number apparently goes through to a duty phone held by the security person here at the airport so the crew won't be waking anyone by phoning it.

If on ground in YXS with conditions requiring de-icing being certain, best option is to call EFC before their night shift ends at midnight to advise so a crew can remain on site.  If having to call in without any notice, please calculate this additional 60 minutes into any overtime/duty period calculations as required.

The District of Stewart has recently installed flood lights at the apron area of the Stewart Aerodrome.

These are an ARCAL system using Frequency 123.200.

If you have the opportunity, please have your pilots test this system and let us know if they are working as expected.

The District continues to work towards improvements with this latest project recently completed which includes the installation of a field electrical centre for additional lighting and navigational aid improvements in the future.

3) Please call our operations on-call to get a stand assigned at 250.615.7636 during operating hours 07:30-20:30. After hours our on-call contact is 250.641.3943. The after hours will normally go to myself, or back-up if not. During daytime hours the stands get quite full with charters, so we will want to ensure we are ready for you.
